Rikki took his own life, say Police

Thursday, 03 May 2012

POLICE are convinced that Rikki Baldwin, 24, committed suicide by jumping into the River Wye – even though his body has not been found.
Baldwin, of Beachley Road, Sedbury, was to have stood trial with three other men on charges of affray and violence.
Judge Jamie Tabor QC gave the go-ahead for the trial to start in August after prosecutor Christopher Smythe told Gloucester Crown Court that concerns about whether Baldwin’s apparent suicide was genuine appeared to be unfounded.
He said evidence from CCTV, Rikki’s phone and witnesses all point to him jumping from the A48 bridge over the River Wye on Easter Monday. “The officer dealing with the enquiry has now come to the conclusion that, yes, it is genuine,” he said.
